  Marine Division

The Swinomish Police Department's Marine Division is equipped with two Wave Runners, a 19" John Boat and a 32' Argus Class, Northwind Boat. All of the boats are used in search, rescue and law enforcement as an independent function of the Police Department and in cooperation with the Skagit County Sheriff's Department, Department of Emergency Management and the US Coast Guard.

The marine patrol area includes the waters of Puget Sound from a line between Edmonds and Kingston, north to the Canadian border and west in the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Port Angeles. The patrol area reflects the usual and accustomed fishing area of the Swinomish Nation.

The 32' Northwind boat, pictured on this webpage, is a multi purpose vessel which has been used successfully in search and rescue, fire fighting and law enforcement. The boat is equipped for day and night operations. The fire fighting manifold is powered by an inboard V6 and is capable if delivering 1250 gallons a minute @ 125 psi at the fire monitor. The inboard system is also capable of propulsion for use in a shallow water environment.
