On August 24th, members of the Swinomish Police Department had the honor of leading the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall procession of over 1200 motorcycles, cars, and fire trucks. The Escort traveled from the Smokey Point Northbound rest area to the Swinomish Northern Lights Casino where the 370 foot wall was displayed for 3 days. Leading the procession was our own Officer David Smailes, who served in Vietnam from 1968-1971. Officer Smailes’s patrol car was preceded by the Swinomish Police Department’s two Motor Vehicle officers, DJ Naumec and Martin Radley.
